Mark 4:18-19 - "The thorny ground represents the hearts of people who listen to the Good News and receive it, 19 but all too quickly the attractions of this world and the DECEITFULNESS OF MONEY, and the search for success and lure of nice things come in and crowd out God's message from their hearts, so that no crop is produced (God’s Purposes not Fulfilled).
I Timothy 6:10 - For the love of money is a root of all evils; it is through this craving that some have been led astray and have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves through with many acute mental pangs and sorrows.
Ecclesiastes 5:10 - If you love money, you will never be satisfied; if you long to be rich, you will never get all you want. It is useless.
Matthew 6:19-21 - "Don't store up treasures here on earth, where they can be eaten by moths and get rusty, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 Store your treasures in heaven, where they will never become moth-eaten or rusty and where they will be safe from thieves. 21 Wherever your treasure is, there your heart and thoughts will also be.
Luke 16:10-13 - Whoever is faithful in small matters (handling money) will be faithful in large ones (handling people); whoever is dishonest in small matters will be dishonest in large ones. 11 If, then, you have not been faithful in handling worldly wealth, how can you be trusted with true wealth? 12 And if you have not been faithful with what belongs to someone else, who will give you what belongs to you?13 "No servant can be the slave of two masters; he will hate one and love the other; he will be loyal to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.“
Psalm 62:10 - ... though your riches increase, do not set your heart on them.
I Timothy 6:17-19 - Instruct those who are rich in this world's goods, not to be lifted up in their minds and not to rest the weight of their confidence and trust on the transitory power of wealth, which will soon be gone. But to trust in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy or who richly provides us with all the joys of life and who generously gives us everything. 18 Charge them to continue doing good and being rich in good deeds, ready to distribute and generous in giving. 19 By doing this they will be storing up real treasure for themselves in heaven - it is the only safe investment for eternity! And they will be living a fruitful Christian life down here as well. |
